Rwandan peacekeepers serving below the United Nations Multidimensional Built-in Stabilization Mission within the Central African Republic (MINUSCA) have been awarded the Presidential Medal of Appreciation by Central African Republic President Faustin-Archange Touadéra.

The award was introduced on Tuesday, July 22, throughout a ceremony on the Presidential Palace in Bangui to members of RWANBATT-15, who’ve accomplished their one-year tour of obligation within the Central African Republic.
The medal recognises the contingent's dedication, professionalism and exemplary service throughout peace help operations, notably its contribution to defending civilians and selling peace, safety and stability within the Central African Republic, based on a press release issued by the Rwanda Defence Drive (RDF).

The Commanding Officer of RWANBATT-15, Lt Col Paul Gasasira, thanked President Touadéra for the continued help prolonged to the contingent in finishing up its mandate.

The ceremony was attended by senior officers from the Central African Republic authorities, Rwanda's Ambassador to the Central African Republic, Olivier Kayumba, senior army officers, and members of the Rwandan neighborhood residing within the Central African Republic.
