Egypt to host Zone 5 qualifiers U18 AfroBasket 2026

The FIBA Africa regional workplace has confirmed that Uganda will not host the qualifier tournaments for the 2026 FIBA U18 AfroBasket tournaments for Zone 5 groups.

Each tournaments have been initially scheduled to happen in Kampala, Uganda from 14 to 21 June.

Nonetheless, FIBA Africa has now introduced that Cairo, Egypt will host the regional qualifier from 23-29 July.

Taking part nationwide groups within the women' match embrace hosts Egypt, Kenya, Rwanda, and Tanzania.

The taking part nationwide groups within the boys' match are Egypt (hosts), Burundi, Kenya, Rwanda, Somalia, South Sudan, Tanzania and Uganda.

The winners of the 2 tournaments will qualify for the 2026 U18 AfroBasket tournaments (girls and boys), which will likely be held in Abidjan, Côte d'Ivoire, from 5-16 August.

The groups which have already certified for the 12-nation 2026 U18 AfroBasket embrace the hosts, Côte d'Ivoire, in addition to the groups that completed within the prime 4 within the earlier editions in 2024. These are: Cameroon, Mali, Senegal and Morocco.
