Native authorities elections will begin in October 2026, in line with the schedule introduced by the Nationwide Electoral Fee (NEC).

The elections will decide leaders of decentralised administrative entities, starting on the village stage and progressing by way of the cell, sector and district ranges.

Alongside native authorities leaders, elections may also be held for the manager committees of the Nationwide Girls's Council, the Nationwide Youth Council and the Nationwide Council of Individuals with Disabilities.

These councils will elect their leaders from the grassroots stage as much as the nationwide stage.

October 1-22: Election observers to be accredited

Election observers shall be invited and accredited between October 1 and 22.

October 10-21: District Council candidacy purposes

NEC will obtain candidacy purposes for District Advisory Council seats between October 10 and 21.

October 26: Provisional District Council candidates printed

The provisional record of District Advisory Council candidates shall be authorized and printed on October 26, in line with NEC.

October 30: Remaining District Council candidate record printed

The ultimate record of District Council candidates shall be authorized and printed on October 30.

October 24: Village-level elections

In response to NEC, on October 24, villages will elect their Govt Committees, their representatives to the Cell Council, two ladies representatives to the Cell Advisory Council underneath the 30 per cent quota, and the committees of the Village Girls's and Youth Councils,

October 31: Cell-level elections

On October 31, cells will elect their representatives to the Sector Advisory Council, ladies councillors underneath the 30 per cent quota, two ladies candidates for the Sector Council, govt committees of the Cell Nationwide Councils, councillors representing particular classes reminiscent of individuals with disabilities, and the Cell Council Bureau.

November 7: Sector-level elections

On November 7, sectors will elect councillors representing particular classes, govt committees of the Sector Nationwide Councils (ladies, youth and other people with disabilities councils), ladies councillors for sector advisory councils underneath the 30 per cent quota, and the Sector Council Bureau.

November 7-21: District Council campaigns

Candidates for District Advisory Council seats will marketing campaign between November 7 and 21.

November 14

Govt committees of the District Nationwide ladies, youth and other people with disabilities Councils shall be elected on November 14, in line with NEC.

November 17: Girls councillors elected

5 ladies councillors for the district councils shall be elected underneath the 30 per cent quota on November 17.

November 21: Basic councillors elected

Eight common councillors for Districts Advisory Councils shall be elected on November 21.

November 24: District Council management elected

The District Council Bureau and Govt Committee shall be elected on November 24. The district govt committee contains the mayor and two vice-mayors, one accountable for financial growth and the opposite accountable for social affairs.

November 28: Provincial and Metropolis of Kigali ladies council committees

On November 28, govt committees of Girls's Council and the Council of Individuals with Disabilities shall be elected on the provincial and Metropolis of Kigali ranges.

November 30: Nationwide Council govt committees

Govt committees of the Nationwide Councils shall be elected on November 30.

December 15: Nationwide Councils totally constituted

The composition of all Nationwide Councils shall be accomplished by December 15.

December 30: Remaining election report

NEC will submit its common report on the elections by December 30.
